The Little White Dress… (LWD)!
I suppose the title is a bit shocking or strange for you, right?
I mean, come on, we are all so used to the term LBD, the Little Black Dress, that you are probably wondering “what is she talking about?”
Well, first things first… The term “Little Black Dress” (LBD) which stands for a black evening or cocktail dress that is cut simply and it is often characterized as quite short, goes back to the 1920s designs of Coco Chanel and Jean Patou. The reason the LBD was created, intended to offer to the ladies a long-lasting, versatile, affordable, accessible to the widest market possible and in a neutral color dress that could be worn at many occasions and styled with different accessories. Its ubiquity is such that it is often simply referred to as the “LBD”.
The “little black dress” is considered essential to a complete wardrobe by many women and fashion observers, who believe it a “rule of fashion” that every woman should own a simple, elegant black dress that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion: for example, worn with a jacket and pumps for daytime business wear or with more ornate jewelry and accessories for evening or a formal event such as a wedding or a ball.
Nicely put I have to say by my internet sources, as I wanted to be precise about what the LBD actually is. But living in the Mediterranean and having sunlight over my head for about 9 out of the 12 months of the year, I have to say that I like colors. By all means, I do wear black but I do love color on clothes, shoes and makeup with the right proportions of course.
Yesterday, as I finished my fitness routine, had my shower, got dressed and headed towards the coffee area of the gym and spa that I belong as a member, I passed in front of a mirror. I took a glimpse of myself and then I returned back and stood there. (No I was not admiring myself) I stood there and thought “this is my next article to my blog, the little white dress!”
Of course I grabbed my phone and took a selfie as I wanted to share with you and I wanted to show the world my latest discovery. That the little white dress is really a piece all women should have in their wardrobe. As you can see from the photos and the video I prepared for you, I am wearing my LWD with my favorite Adidas sneakers as it was around 11a.m so I chose a sportier look.
Now, think about this very simple, A-line cut little white dress with camel colored platforms, red high heeled sandals, flat sandals or even a pair of ballerinas. With the right accessories, jewelry, hair and makeup you have a dress for about five different occasion’s day, night and anything else in between!
I felt like I discovered something new (well at least to me!) so I decided I wanted to share this with all of you! I do hope that I gave you some fashion ideas plus I am sure I made you think about your own little white dress that is somewhere at the back of your closet as you probably bought it from a Greek island like I did last year. Well well…see…we all have hidden treasures in our closet and it only takes a minute out of nowhere to discover them! Besides, it is summer time! White is a must!
